Blonde Redhead
Blonde Redhead, (Amedeo & Simone Pace and Kazu Makino), has quietly shaped the sound of independent music for over three decades. Known for landmark albums such as Misery Is a Butterfly and 23, their hypnotic blend of dream pop and experimental rock moves fluidly between the intimate and the cinematic. For KITÁ, they compose an original score that deepens the film’s emotional and choreographic language.
Director’s Statement
The story of KITÁ began with a simple idea: that art speaks across every divide. We set out to follow Juilliard dancers on a journey to teach contemporary movement in the Philippine Islands, but what unfolded was far deeper. In places where language, geography, and history might separate us, we witnessed dance become a living bridge: a shared language of connection, resilience, and hope.
As filmmakers, we were profoundly moved not only by the beauty of the movement, but by the transformations happening on both sides. For the young artists stepping outside the familiar, and for the underserved youth they came to teach, art offered something rare: a space where belonging was immediate, and where dignity needed no translation.
KITÁ is ultimately a meditation on the power of creativity to unite us. We believe that when words fail, movement speaks. Through this film, we hope to remind audiences that art is not a luxury, but a language of survival, empathy, and possibility.
